About the camp

Luxury explorer tents are individually located around a central lodge area, complete with a large viewing deck, swimming pool, and boma. Making the most of the supreme location, the lodge is all about the view with and outdoor seating area, sun loungers, and dining table overlooking the river and sunset. 

Guests are invited to relax with a pair of binoculars and a refreshment, keeping an eye on the elephant, waterbuck, giraffe, impala, and other animals wandering the plains and visiting the river.

Warren Howson, guide and owner, has grown up in the Klaserie, starting life as a youngster tracking his Grandfather’s footsteps as he set out on his morning walk on their family farm. With an innate understanding and appreciation for the bush, Warren is an expert guide and fascinating host.

Location

The camp is located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger Park.

Sharing unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park, Klaserie is a Big 5 reserve with incredible wildlife diversity and birdlife, which can be explored on foot and on game drive during safari activities.

The camp is about 2 hours’ drive from the town of Hoedspruit in Limpopo, and is easily accessed by self-driving guests. Eastgate Airport is 1.5 hours' drive away, located about 10km outside the entrance to the Klaserie and Timbavati (Enkhulu Gate).

Fly-in guests will connect with a road transfer, which will take them to Ivory Wilderness Riversong Camp itself.

Alternatively, self-driving guests can follow directions from Johannesburg or Hoedspruit and enjoy the easy drive on dirt roads to camp.

Getting There

From Hoedspruit, take the R40 towards White River and travel 6km to left turn to Timbavati/Eastgate Airport. Continue 18.8km until Enkhulu Gate, sign in and take an immediate left (less than 20m), cross over cattle grid, turn right and continue 4.1km to Incheni Gate. Continue 13.4km to right turn at cellphone tower. Drive 7.7km until junction; turn left to Klaseriemont Dundee East; continue 7.4km to left turn to Dundee South East; continue 5km and turn right at sign for Ivory Wilderness. The camp is 500m along the road.

From Johannesburg continue on to the N4 Highway for 191 km. Take the exit toward R33, then onto R540 from Belfast to Dullstroom. Turn left onto R36, travelling through Lydenburg, Ohrigstad, and through the Strydom Tunnel towards Hoedspruit. The R36 becomes the R527 and takes you right into Hoedspruit at the T-junction with the R40. Turn right on the R40 towards White River and continue for 6km before turning left at the sign for Timbavati/Eastgate Airport. (Continue according to directions above).
